Midface and craniofacial

Smart Fixation is used to provide internal fixation of cranial and facial bones. The midface and craniofacial option is called the ALFA system. It covers a complete range of plates and screws intended for craniofacial and midface trauma.

2. BETA system – Orthognathic surgery

The BETA system is specifically designed for orthognathic surgery. With its low interface and semi rigid fixation this is the standard for many maxillofacial surgeons. The system is simple, efficient, multipurpose, extremely user friendly and reliable.

3. GAMMA system – Trauma and reconstruction

Trauma and reconstruction

The GAMMA system is used for trauma and reconstructive surgery of the mandible. Simple, as well as complex fractures can easily be managed with this system. 

All boneplates of the GAMMA series are reversible and compatible with locking and non-locking screws. This is a very unique feature: reversible & locking all-in-one. Our large boneplate rang allows the surgeon to choose the optimal boneplate design for each possible indication in the field of trauma en reconstructive surgery of the mandible.

4. JOTA system – IMF screws

IMF screws

Intermaxillary fixation (IMF) is  a  technique  frequently used  in oral and maxillofacial surgery for mandibular and midface fracture stabilization. IMF screws have shown to be a useful modality to establish maxillomandibular fixation. It is a safe, and time-sparing technique. It is an ideal device for temporary intermaxillary fixation.

Screws are intended to be placed above or between the tooth roots paying special attention to the nerves. The number and position of the IMF screws depend on the fracture type. After placement, a wire is wapped around the screws to stabilize the patients occlusion.

USES

  • The intermaxillary fixation screws are used for binding the maxillary and mandibular teeth together
  • Immobilise the jaw in patients with a mandibular fracture, or during orthognathic surgery

5. Smile Distraction, Giving people a nice smile

Titamed’s CMF distraction solution is called Smile Distraction. Our transpalatal distractors (tpd) are designed to widen the upper jaw.  They allows you to deliver outstanding improvements to the facial features of your patients. 

We have 3 different types of palatal distractors, each designed for a specific indication, allowing you to cover all surgical needs.

DISTRACTION OSTEOGENESIS

Distraction osteogenesis is based on the body’s own ability to cause a fracture to heal and is described as the process of new bone formation. After the bone is cut during surgery, the transpalatal distractor pulls the 2 pieces of bone apart slowly. The slow stretching apart of bone is not painful. New bone grows (osteogenesis) to fill the gap.

TECHNIQUE

Surgically Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion (SARPE) or Surgically Assisted Rapid Maxillary Expansion (SARME) is a technique in the field of orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery which is used to expand the maxillary arch. It is performed to address the transverse dimension or the 3th dimension changes in a patient in orthognathic surgery.

The Smile distractor is bone-born palatal distractor used widen the maxillary arch.

WHEN TO USE

The indications for SARPE / SARME in skeletal maturity or adult patients include:

  • Cross bites
  • Crowding accompanied by contraindications for teeth extraction
  • Large side corridors 
  • Maxillary narrowing in clefts
  • Obstructive sleep apnea (in patients with a narrow palate)

The transpalatal distractor is placed on the maxilla after Lefort  I osteotomy performance without the down-fracture.
