3di Portfolio in Cranial and Facial Reconstruction

3di GmbH is a medical technology company from Jena, which has been working successfully since the year 2000 and is firmly established in the medical technology sector. Qualified specialists in the fields of research and development, design engineering, production, marketing and sales are the solid basis for the fast way from the requirement to the delivery of the exactly adapted patient specific implant – in special cases also within 48 hours.

With 3di you found your reliable contact for patient specific implants for the cerebral and visceral cranium. We would be pleased to advise you with the choice of material (PEEK, BIOVERIT®II, Titanium), we work together in finding solutions and we support you with the application of the assumption of costs.

PEEK

Not only with digital visualisation but also with physical 3D-models, especially for complex defects, optimum results are achieved. Based on our long-time experience and the close collaborations in the departments of neurosurgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery and the otolaryngology clinic, we provide you customised, fast and high quality solutions which attend your patient in the best possible way.Simply send us the CT data of your patient by mail or via our secured internet transfer portal. On the basis of these data, we will create an individual offer for you. So you have the opportunity to get to know our service free of charge. We would be pleased to send you our CT recording parameters in advance or download them in our download area. To get the access data for the downloads, you can use our contact form. Of course we are also available by telephone.

· resterilization is possible
· customer focus

Our main products are patient specific implants for the brain- and face-skull areas.

These patient specific implants can, for example, become necessity after trauma, tumour surgeries, surgery accesses, or in case of functional-aesthetical corrections.

For the fabrication of such implants, the company has developed its own procedure. This new procedure allows us to create implants which are custom-made for every patient.

Modelling, construction and manufacturing are exclusively virtual process. In consideration of the surgical -technical aspects it is therefore possible to create patient specific implants in best time.

Implant Materials

BIOVERIT®II

We use the glass ceramics BIOVERIT®II, which has been developed under the supervision of Prof. Vogel by the department of glass chemistry of the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena. This material consists of machinable glass ceramics of the SiO2-Al2O3-MgO-Na2O-K2O-F-system. BIOVERIT®II is an non-resorbable glass ceramic, which consists of a crystal phase (approx. 60%) with mainly Phlogopite–crystals, embedded in an alumosilicate glass matrix (approx. 40%).

PEEK

PEEK was deverlop as non-resorbable high performance thermoplastic for the long-term implantation. Since 2008, 3di GmbH is producing patient specific implants for the cerebral and visceral cranium made of this material. PEEK is intraoperative machinable.

Titanium

Titanium is a dark grey material, which is highly stable. Due to this stability, it is possible to make the implants very thin. A subsequent machining with OP-tools is very difficult or not possible due to the high strength. Titanium is an implant material which is long-term proven for many body regions.

Procedure

1. Data acquisition
First of all, the necessary data of the patient is gathered with the imaging procedure like computer tomography and afterwards stored, e.g. in DICOM- format.

Ablauf 1.1 mod

2. Data transfer
The data can be saved to CD-ROM, DVD or USB flash drive and can be sent to us. You are welcome to send data encrypted and quickly with our internet transfer portal which you can find at https://transfer.3di.de.

Ablauf 2 mod

3. Data preparation
The data of the patient is prepared and converted by us; a virtual 3D-patient model is created.

Ablauf 3 mod

4. Construction of a 3D-implant model
On the basis of the virtual 3D-patient model an implant model is constructed. After consultation between you, the treating physician, and our technical designers, you determine the final implant shape. The consultation can take place either via telephone or via E-mail. If necessary we send you also real 3D- model for the implant planning.

Ablauf 4 mod

5. Transformation in CNC-data
After the clearance of the implant shape, the construction data is converted into CNC-data.

Ablauf 5 mod

6. Choice of material and manufacturing
The material is selected, according to medical and technical aspects; only medically certified materials are used, which are compliant to the MPDG (Medizinprodukterecht-Durchführungsgesetz). Afterwards, the computer-assisted manufacturing is carried out in our modern fabrication centre.
