A New Resort is Being Built on the Romanian Coast: NIBIRUInvestment Exceeds €50 Million in Phase One Alone

NIBIRU – the largest private tourism project in the history of Romanian summer tourism – was officially launched today during an event held in Bucharest, in the presence of investors, strategic partners, industry leaders, and media representatives. The project, located between Costinesti and Tuzla, will span 1.6 million square meters and introduces an entirely new model for tourism, economic, and cultural development on the Romanian coastline.

The launch followed a national teaser campaign that sparked massive curiosity. Hundreds of influencers, artists, and content creators posted a mysterious pink planet with no explanation. The symbol went viral, quickly adopted by dozens of online communities. Today, the mystery was unveiled: the pink planet is NIBIRU.

NIBIRU is a resort built from scratch, based on a rigorous urban master plan adhering to the highest standards of design, functionality, and operations. It is a temporary city – active only during summer, but fully functional – representing a private investment of over €50 million, the largest ever made in Romania’s entertainment industry.

“NIBIRU is more than a destination. It’s an entire ecosystem of entertainment, culture, sports, retail, food, and art, designed for all generations – from families with children to young adults, teens, and even people over 45 years old – because everybody deserves a better entertainment experience.”
— Andrei Selaru (Selly), Managing Partner & C.E.O. of NIBIRU

NIBIRU unites four major components:

  • An open-air mall with restaurants, cafés, and fashion stores
  • A theme park and extended family zone
  • A multifunctional festival and concert platform (up to 150,000 capacity – equivalent to 3 large stadiums)
  • The world’s largest open-air nightclub: NIBIRU Arena, with 30,000 capacity.

All areas are connected through a spectacular promenade featuring nightly artistic shows, art installations, street performers, and themed moments.

The implementation team includes professionals with expertise in creative industries, real estate, hospitality, and large-scale events. The creative concept is signed by Joshua Cox, founder of SOLE DXB (Dubai). Event operations are led by George Carabelea (Beach, Please!), and Fady Zaidan (LOFT Group) serves as Head of Experience & Entertainment.

Construction is managed by BRISK Group through Claudiu Bisnel and Catalin Podgoreanu, and key team members include as Claudiu Ilioiu (Head of Partnerships, Global Records Group), Flavia Ionescu (Brand Partnerships), Razvan Luca (Architect & Creative Producer), Robert Munthiu (Head of Marketing), Bogdan Gheorghiu (F&B Manager), Daniel Nistor (Leasing Consultant), and Marius Magureanu (Legal Advisor).

“What we’re building here is a new coastal icon—a multi-dimensional district that brings together music, fashion, sport, food, art, nightlife, and progressive architecture. A place that doesn’t imitate — but stands proudly and originally as a European cultural destination in its own right. One rooted in the stories, textures, and talents of Romania.”
— Joshua Cox, Concept Architect, Co-founder SOLE DXB

Beyond the core elements, NIBIRU includes:

  • Sports facilities
  • A fashion bazaar for emerging Romanian designers
  • Urban art and education spaces
  • A summer library
  • A stand-up comedy club
  • Premium HoReCa infrastructure
  • Cultural and social activations

Its culinary offering caters to all preferences: from beloved Romanian brands (FRYDAY, Cartofisserie, Shaormeria Baneasa, etc.) to gourmet à la carte concepts. LOFT and NUBA, the biggest nightlife brands in Romania, will also operate venues inside the resort.

“NIBIRU will become the new summer capital of Central and Eastern Europe. Our main stage will host A-list international acts, with programs constantly updated based on tourist feedback.” — Claudiu Ilioiu, Head of Partnerships, Global Records

A full-scale test of this model took place during Beach, Please! Festival 2025, held on the same grounds, with over 150,000 attendees and zero infrastructure or connectivity issues – a successful proof of concept for scalability.

“NIBIRU is unprecedented in Romania – both in vision and development pace. It blends international standards with a bold, local ambition.”
— Claudiu Bisnel, Construction PM (BRISK Group)

The resort is expected to attract over 3 million visitors per season, placing it above other popular Romanian resorts and in direct competition with destinations like Ibiza or Mykonos, at a much more accessible price. The estimated budget for a full evening experience (shows, food & drinks) is only €20–30.

NIBIRU is also designed as a viral digital content platform: influencer hubs, live shows, media projects, interactive campaigns, and branded experiences will make it the digital epicenter of the summer.Grand Opening: July 2026
